Who We Are

As Small Scale Farmers_
What happens within and to the household is critical to local, regional and global food system Households whether 'Family Farms' or otherwise, which are an important engine-room for decisions about what to grow, buy and eat and recycle. Households are a critical point in the struggle to feed the planet.
For Small Scale holder farmers_
This may mean trying to use their social connections to secure more or better land or to enlist labor at critical times of the agriculture cycle, considering the environment needs to be considered as well.

Hunger, malnutrition and early childhood stunting are huge problems across the developing world. A simple adaptation such as the Family-to-Family model in which all can participate, seems to be the way forward yet building our economy at large. The project is designed for the family to embrace the Perma-gardening, rain water harvesting, keeping of small animals, birds and possibly bees as approaches of intensification, adaptation and mitigation. This allows even the most marginalized and vulnerable family to be an active part of the solution rather than being the ongoing disempowered victims of the problem.

Permaculture provides us with protective tools that help work with nature rather than against her. The idea is to get a high yield, nutrition-focused, climate smart engine of security that one can create at home. The families are supported in kind to bring-long term solutions to drought, famine and starvation.

Knowing that there is a viable and readily available market encourages the farmers to concentrate on producing good quality produce. The diaspora family, which needs some of the produce and products especially dried and canned or bottled, can get them directly from these farms, which is a win-win situation. The interested diaspora can also mobilize resources and the required training to enable these communities to grow. We encourage others who have similar communities all over Zimbabwe to adapt to this concept. It really has to work on the ground for anything meaningful to happen and Fishers Foundation will make it happen, as we collaborate with like minds as we make this a better world.
